Smart Upload Beta Guidelines
Smart Upload Beta uses AI assistance to suggest vessel details, category paths and related metadata. It is designed to save time, but every suggestion still needs human review before you submit.
What Smart Upload does
- Analyses the selected photo and attempts to suggest a vessel name
- May suggest vessel type, category and sub-category
- May detect or suggest IMO / MMSI matches
- May use EXIF date and GPS information to help fill details
Important: AI suggestions are not guaranteed
- You are responsible for checking every suggested value before uploading.
- Do not assume vessel name, type, location, category, IMO or MMSI are correct just because they were auto-filled.
- If the AI is unsure, incomplete, or obviously wrong, correct it manually.
Smart Upload is a helper, not an approval system. Final responsibility stays with the uploader.
Best use cases
- Single-photo uploads where you want help identifying the subject
- RNLI and specialist vessel uploads where a category suggestion may save time
- Photos with intact EXIF date and GPS metadata
When to use Standard Upload instead
- You already know all details and want full manual control
- You are uploading several images in a row
- The AI keeps misidentifying the vessel or category
- You want the simplest, most direct workflow
What may still be rejected
- Wrong vessel identification
- Wrong category or sub-category
- Duplicate images
- Low quality, soft, noisy or badly edited images
- Uploads with inaccurate or misleading metadata
Before pressing Upload
- Check vessel name carefully
- Confirm category and sub-category are sensible
- Verify photo date
- Check location and country
- Review any IMO / MMSI suggestions
- Make sure the image itself meets normal quality standards
