Bulk Upload Guidelines
Bulk Upload is intended for photographers adding multiple images in one session. It is faster, but accuracy and consistency matter even more when submitting batches.
Best use of Bulk Upload
- Uploading several images from the same trip, port call or shoot
- Submitting batches where the vessel, location or date information is already well organised
- Saving time when a lot of metadata is repeated
Before uploading a batch
- Check filenames are sensible and easy to identify
- Make sure your dates are correct
- Group similar photos together so metadata entry stays consistent
- Remove weak duplicates and obvious rejects before uploading
Consistency matters
- Use the same vessel naming format throughout the batch
- Keep location formatting consistent
- Apply the correct category and sub-category to every image
- Do not rush through repeated fields without checking them
Common bulk upload mistakes
- Applying the same metadata to the wrong image
- Mixing similar vessels in one batch and mislabelling them
- Uploading too many almost identical frames
- Including photos that are soft, badly cropped, or weaker than the rest
Bulk tools save time, but they also make it easier to repeat the same mistake across many photos. Slow down and spot-check each image.
Acceptance standards are still the same
- Every image must still meet the same quality and ownership standards as a normal upload.
- Being part of a larger batch does not guarantee acceptance.
- Each photo may be reviewed on its own merits.
Rights and ownership
- Only upload photographs you took yourself or have permission to upload.
- Do not bulk upload copied, scraped, or third-party images.
- You remain responsible for all metadata and rights attached to every file in the batch.
